Woodstock Film Festival presents
with special guests, director George Ratliff and author Larry Beinhart

(Woodstock, NY)  JUNE 13, 2011: The Woodstock Film Festival is excited to announce a special pre-release screening of Salvation Boulevard at Upstate Films in Woodstock, NY on Wednesday July 13, 2011 at 8:30pm. Following the screening will be a discussion with Director George Ratliff and Woodstock’s own Larry Beinhart, with a book signing afterwards at the adjacent VARGA Gallery.

Adopted from Beinhart’s novel by the same name, Salvation Boulevard, courtesy of IFC Films, takes an entertaining look at mega-churches through the eyes of a Deadhead ex-hippie turned born again Christian. A prestigious Edgar Award winning novelist, Beinhart has already seen success in the film world with the star-studded adaptation of American Hero; the 1997 film Wag The Dog stars Dustin Hoffman and Robert DeNiro. Wag the Dog went on to receive two Oscar® nominations.

Salvation Boulevard follows Carl Vanderveer (Greg Kinnear) as he attempts to escape the hold of crazed churchgoers and their charming leader, pastor Dan Day (Pierce Brosnan).

In addition to Kinnear and Brosnan, the film boasts an extraordinary cast including Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Marisa Tomei, Ciaran Hinds, and Isabella Fuhrman.

An old pro with indie hits (winning best cinematography at Sundance for his 2007 film Joshua) Ratliff proves himself again with Salvation Boulevard’s comedic satire.

Beinhart’s novel was named a “splendid religious legal thriller” and a “provocative morality tale” by Publishers Weekly, while Salvation Boulevard follows suit with packed crowds at its 2011 Sundance world premiere.

"It was great seeing the World Premiere of Salvation Boulevard in Sundance earlier this year. Right there and then, I knew WFF had to bring it to Woodstock for a special screening prior to its theatrical release," commented Woodstock Film Festival co-founder and Executive Director Meira Blaustein."I'm thrilled that we are able to do so and celebrate with Larry Beinhart, who is such an accomplished writer and friend."
