In 1974, two very different women are thrown together. Jenny, a political activist and fugitive, on the run and in isolation in upstate New York, wanted for the bombing of a draft office, is called to take care of Patty Hearst (named here Pauline), an heiress who’s converted to her kidnappers’ radical cause and is now in hiding underground. Once Jenny begins to get to know the enigmatic Pauline, everything she believes about loyalty and betrayal is thrown into question. Jenny struggles to comprehend Pauline’s transformation, with the growing realization she faces a watershed choice.
Adapted from the Pulitzer-shortlisted novel by Susan Choi.
