To Be Forever Wild was created by a group of filmmakers, musicians and artists in New York's Catskill Mountains. Based in a little red cabin perched above a waterfall, the crew spent several weeks exploring the landscapes that are considered to be America's "first wilderness." More than a portrait of a place, the film profiles the people who live in and visit this region, including artists, hikers, scientists, farmers and young people. In the film we see the power of nature to restore, reclaim and provoke our deepest emotions and connections to the world. It's a film that inspires people to reconnect with nature in their own way, wherever they happen to be.
David Becker is a producer, director, cinematographer and educator. He recently produced Saint Misbehavin': The Wavy Gravy Movie, a documentary about counter-culture icon Wavy Gravy, which was directed by Michelle Esrick and executive produced by DA Pennebaker.

David directed the PBS documentary Small Steps: Creating the High School for Contemporary Arts, which follows the creation of a small school located inside one of New York's most dangerous high schools. Small Steps was produced by two-time Academy Award winning filmmaker Barbara Kopple.

David coordinated the restoration and Criterion Collection DVD release of Barbara Kopple's landmark documentary Harlan County USA. He has collaborated with Ms. Kopple on several nonfiction projects, including Dixie Chicks: Shut Up & Sing, My Generation, and Running From Crazy.

David teaches Media Arts at the Woodstock Day School in upstate New York.
