ABOUT PORTIA MUNSON:
Portia Munson is a visual artist who works in a variety of media including installation, painting, photography & sculpture.

She was recently asked to incorporate her "flower madalas" as part of MTA subway art for the Fort Hamilton Station on the west end line in Brooklyn. This fall, she will have a solo show at MASS MoCA, titled "Color Forms," and an exhibition on the theme of the color Pink at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

She has exhibited internationally at galleries including PPOW Gallery, Yoshii Gallery and White Columns in NYC, among others. Her work has also shown throughout the US, Canada & Europe in such venues as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki, Finland; the Kunstahallen Brandts Klaedefabrik, Odensec, Denmark; and in NYC at the New Museum, Ace Gallery, Exit Art, DC Moore Gallery and Affirmation Arts. Munson has taught at the Yale School of Art, Vassar Collage and SUNY Purchase. She holds a BFA from Cooper Union and a MFA from Rutgers UV, Munson has received fellowships from Yaddo, MacDowell, Skowhegan, Fine Arts Work Center Provincetown, Art Omi, and others. Her work has been reviewed and written about in many publication including The New York Times, Art in America, Newsweek, Harper's, USA Today, The New Yorker, Flash Art and Artforum.


Prior WFF posters have been designed by artists including Milton Glaser (2009), Karen Whitman (2008), Peter Max (2007), Tiziano Magni (2005) and Bill Plympton (2002). They can be viewed on the WFF souvenir page.
