HUDSON VALLEY FILM COMMISSION LANDS NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC DOCUMENTARY
National Geographic and Touch Production documentary to shoot in Hudson Valley
Have you ever wondered what it would look like if all the things you produce and consume in your lifetime were piled up outside your door? All your clothes, all your electrical goods, all your worldly goods laid out before you? The American version of this remarkable film will be produced in June and July in New York’s Hudson Valley area.
The documentary a UK based Production Company, tells the story of an average life, a 2,475,576,000 second journey from the cradle to the grave, revealing the extraordinary impact that each of our lives has on the world around us.
“We were contacted about locations in early April,” says Hudson Valley Film Commissioner Laurent Rejto. “We quickly reacted due to the subject matter and the shear mass of the project. This is an important documentary and there’s no better environment to produce it in than the beautiful Hudson Valley. We found some ideal crewmembers for their team, a few locations, warehouse possibilities and we’re even talking to some A-list actors to narrate the film. Location scouts Bill Stitt and Joan Knight worked very closely with the production team and found tons of ideal locations when they recently visited.”
Bill Stitt & Joan Knight, of Catskill Mountain Pictures in Woodstock have just finished their 3rd week of scouting for this documentary.
“It's been a really positive experience,” said Bill. “They flew into JFK, drove to Woodstock, we showed them pictures & toured our locations the next day, which they were continually impressed & delighted with. The next day they were off, somewhat reluctantly, to scout other areas, among them New Jersey. Two days later they were back in Woodstock for three more scouting days with us - they had decided to shoot the picture here.”
“We're in touch with them now that they are back in England working out the final production details - they tell us that they can't wait to get back for the shoot at the end of May,” added Bill.
Over the next several weeks, the Hudson Valley Film Commission will be looking for crew members, cast extras, accommodations, services, and volunteers for the production. The production is scheduled for June and July this year. Specific needs include:
