2008 WOODSTOCK FILM FESTIVAL YEAR ROUND PROGRAMMING STARTS WITH A BANG
Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro to appear at WFF screening of Body of War
(Woodstock, NY) December 11, 2007— The Woodstock Film Festival announced the launch of its 2008 Year Round Screening Program today with Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro’s new award winning Iraq war documentary Body of War.
The screening will take place Saturday January 12th, 2 pm, at the Tinker Street Cinema in Woodstock, with a snow date for Sunday January 13th. Donahue and Spiro will be on hand for a Q&A immediately following. Congressman Maurice Hinchey will be in attendance as well. They will also be at the special reception hosted by Oriole 9 at the restaurant after the show. Admission to the screening is $15. The screening and meet-the-filmmakers reception is $25.
Body of War is an intimate and transformational feature documentary about the true face of war today. Meet Tomas Young, 25 years old, paralyzed from a bullet to his spine after serving in Iraq for less than a week. Body of War is his coming home story as he evolves into a new person, dealing with his disability and finding his own unique and passionate voice against the war. It is a nakedly honest portrayal of what it is like inside the body, heart and soul of this extraordinary and heroic young man. The film is produced and directed by Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro (Troop 1500). Woodstocker DeeDee Halleck acted as the film’s consultant and there are two original songs by Eddie Vedder.
