Woodstock Film Festival presents
The WORLD PREMIERE of Coming Up Roses
with special guests, director Lisa Albright, award-winning screenwriter Christina Lazaridi, and actors Peter Friedman and Rachel Broshnahan

(Woodstock, NY)  August 11, 2011: The Woodstock Film Festival is excited to announce the World Premiere of Coming Up Roses at the 12th Annual Fiercely Independent Woodstock Film Festival, kicking off Wed. Sept. 21 through Sun. Sept. 25. The film will be screened twice during the festival. Following the screenings will be a Q&A with director Lisa Albright, award-winning screenwriter Christina Lazaridi, and actors Peter Friedman and Rachel Broshnahan. Screening date, time and location to be announced shortly.

Directed by Lisa Albright and starring Broadway Superstar Bernadette Peters, Coming Up Roses examines small town America -- in a deep recession. Young Alice (in a terrific performance by Rachel Brosnahan) and her theatrical mother, Diane (Bernadette Peters), desperately hold onto each other and the fantasy of a better life. A dangerous neighborhood, money troubles, even Diane's relentless depression will not defeat them. But is their love and determination enough? A story about the power of imagination and the menacing reality of insatiable need.

The Film also stars veteran actor Peter Friedman and Reyna de Courcy.

Albright has an extensive background in theater, having participated in over 40 productions in New York and theatres across the country. She produced and directed theatrical entertainment for Voyager Company and directed theatrical entertainment for The Audi Car Company. Albright was part of the producing team for the Broadway production of "One Mo' Time" and the Canadian Comedy "Mum's the Word." She got her MA from New York University through the Gallatin School, with a focus on film production. Coming Up Roses was written with award-winning screenwriter Christina Lazaridi and marks Albright's directorial feature debut.

"We are thrilled to be screening the World Premiere of Coming Up Roses at the 12th Annual Fiercely Independent Woodstock Film Festival," said Woodstock Film Festival Co-Founder and Executive Director Meira Blaustein. "This is an amazing directorial feature debut for Lisa and a transfixing performance by Bernadette Peters as well as by Rachel Broshnahan and Peter Friedman. I know it will get a warm welcome at this year's festival."
