2005 WOODSTOCK FILM FESTIVAL
TO SCREEN LEGENDARY MUSIC FILM
“CONCERT FOR BANGLADESH”

Woodstock, NY – August 25, 2005: The filmed live concert of “The Concert for Bangladesh” will screen for the first time in more than 30 years at the 2005 Woodstock Film Festival, festival organizers announced.

This special preview advances the October 25, 2005 launch of the Apple Corps/Rhino DVD and Apple Corps/Capitol CD release, and sets off a month of celebration of this monumental concert event.

The showing itself will consist of a dance/party screening at the Bearsville Theatre on Friday, September 30 at 10:00 p.m. with special musical guest appearances. The legendary photography of Barry Feinstein will be raffled off. Signed photographs of George Harrison, Leon Russell, and Bob Dylan performing together at the 1971 “Concert for Bangladesh,” are amongst the prizes.

The Concert for Bangladesh was the first benefit concert of its kind; it brought together an extraordinary assemblage of major artists collaborating for a common humanitarian cause, and set the precedent that music could be used to serve a higher purpose. The two concerts—which were held on August 1, 1971 and sold out Madison Square Garden—along with the Grammy® Award-winning triple-album boxset and the feature film, generated millions of dollars for UNICEF and raised awareness for the organization around the world, as well as among other musicians and their fans. It is therefore acknowledged as the inspiration and forerunner to the major global fundraising events of recent years.

Besides George himself, the concert film features some of his friends, including: Ravi Shankar, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Leon Russell, and Billy Preston. Performances include ‘Here Comes The Sun’, ‘Something’, ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’, ‘My Sweet Lord’, ‘Just Like A Woman’, ‘Blowin’ In The Wind,’ and ‘A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall’.
