The Woodstock Film Festival is presenting several six-week screenwriting workshops with screenwriter/journalist Lisa Katzman in Bearsville and in New York City (Tribeca). The goal of the workshop is to develop a feature length screenplay. Each workshop is limited to 8 people. Workshop activities are geared for beginners as well as for individuals with some experience in this form of dramatic writing. Sessions will be balanced between working on screenplays through a sharing of work, writing exercises, and a discussion of assigned screenplays and films. Participants need a willingness write regularly outside of class, to share work in class, to be open to the process of hearing and giving feedback, and to re-writing. First six-week
sessions starts July 29 in Bearsville; July 26 in Tribeca |

In May, the Woodstock Film Commission received a call from Norm Thompson, Inc regarding their fall & winter catalogue, which they hoped to produce in the Hudson Valley area. This Oregon based company offers clothing, footwear and accessories for men and women, as well as travel gear, home décor and gourmet foods. Local production manager Bill Stitt arranged several locations including private mansions along the Hudson River and historical sites including the Clermont Mansion near Tivoli and Montgomery Place in Barrytown. The eight to twelve man crew arrived in the Hudson Valley via the extremely convenient local Stewart Airport while models arrived from New York City by ground transportation. | ||

WOODSTOCK NATIVE GOES DUNKIN DONUTS Woodstock native Abram Lewis-Rosenblum left town several years ago to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. He knew commercials were a good way to finance a more legitimate acting career. The only problem was landing one. He needed a good agent and luck. He was introduced to Osbrink's by a good friend and after some classes to freshen him up, he was signed. He made the rounds auditioning for four months, got a few callbacks but no jobs. Earlier this spring, he went for a Dunkin Donuts audition. A few weeks after getting a callback and meeting with the Director, Abram¹s agent called with the news, BUT, it was April 1st and her didn't believe her. He had already been told, earlier that day, that his car had been wrecked April Fools! Luckily, the agent was not pulling his chain. Since there aren't that many Dunkin Donuts in California, a set was built using the frame of a pastry shop out in Orange County. The ad is currently running nationally and Abram is using the money to finance acting classes and to pay rent until the next job. The next step is to make inroads into more legitimate acting gigs. In addition to the ad, Abram has worked on a couple independent films. "It is my hope," he says, "that it will make its East Coast debut at the Woodstock Film Festival in the near future and that I can be doing the Q&A instead of directing cars the way I did when I volunteered in 2002."
