CONCERT WEDNESDAY NIGHT: The Gene Ween Acoustic Band

Tickets also available for September 22 concert. CLICK HERE.The brilliant, irreverent, satiric, supremely talented Gene Ween, of the band Ween, has been putting on deliriously demented live shows with Ween for 25 years, and now with his own band. Born Aaron Freeman, he did home recordings at an early age, and at the behest of the demon-god Boognish, formed Ween with his best friend. From his first live show at Trenton’s City Gardens, opening for the Butthole Surfers, to this show with his breakout acoustic band at the Colony in Woodstock, Gene Ween’s output has been wildly prolific and insanely inventive. Just think back, remember and revel in the ever-changing rhythms and hit songs from Ween's (albums like)? “Synthetic Socks,” “The Crucial Squeegie Lip,” “Axis: Bold as Boognish,” “GodWeenSatan,” “The Pod,” “Pure Guave,” “Chocolate and Cheese,” “Painting the Town Brown: Ween Live ’90-’98,” “White Pepper,” and the live album releases from “Chocodog,” “Live at Stubs,” “Live by Request,” “Live in Chicago,” and “Cucaraca.” Gene Ween is one awesomely musical dude.

Philippe Quint and Nellie McKay, with Special Guest Lori Singer and Tracy Bonham with Jerry Marotta, Explorers, Gorgeous Creatures and Bazaar.

Concert starts at 7:30 pm. Doors will open at 7pm. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

PHILIPPE QUINT & NELLIE MCKAY: SEE DOWNTOWN EXPRESS
A two-time Grammy Award nominee, violinist PHILIPPE QUINT has emerged in recent years as one of the few soloists to combine a remarkable degree of lyricism, poetry and impeccable virtuosity. He has gripped the eyes and ears of audiences in Asia, Australia, Latin America, Africa, Europe and the U.S. with what The Times (London) describes as his “bravura technique, and unflagging energy.”

NELLIE McKAY is hard to categorize. She's done Brecht on Broadway, opened for Lou Reed at Carnegie Hall, sung Woody Allen movie songs at the Hollywood Bowl, performed on A Prairie Home Companion, duetted with Eartha Kitt and Triumph The Insult Comic Dog, played Hilary Swank's sister on the big screen, paid tribute to Doris Day, and released three wildly acclaimed albums of original music.

LORI SINGER: Lori Singer is a Golden Globe, winning star of film and television. She has starred in such films as "Footloose", "Short Cuts", "Falcon and the Snowman", "Trouble in Mind" and was one of the original leads of the hit television show "Fame", to name a few. She is a Juilliard graduate, and is honored to be a part of the Woodstock Film Festival.

TRACY BONHAM AND JERRY MAROTTA: Daughter of a singer and music educator and a newspaper editor, Tracy Bonham grew up in Eugene, OR studying violin, voice, and piano from a very early age. Bonham went to Los Angeles to study violin performance at USC and later transferred to Berklee College of Music to study voice. While in Boston she began writing songs and within two years she was releasing her first EP the Liverpool Sessions (Cherry Disc). Her 1996 major label debut, The Burdens of Being Upright (Island), sold over 800,000 copies world-wide and went gold in the US as well as Holland, Australia, and Canada, spawning the hit single "Mother Mother". This lead to a pair of Grammy™ nominations in 1997, as well as an MTV Video Award nomination. She has since toured the world many times on her own and with Blue Man Group as featured vocalist/violinist and has made television appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Late Late Show with Craig Furgussen. Tracy's vocals and violin are featured on artist's albums such as Latin Playboys "Dose", Wayfaring Strangers' "Wayfaring Stranger" & "This Train", Ron Sexmith's "Whereabouts", Aerosmith's "Honkin On Bobo", and Mark Oliver Everett's (The Eels) "Levity". Her critically acclaimed fourth album Masts Of Manhatta was released in July 2010 and she appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno for the third time. She currently splits her time between Woodstock and Brooklyn and is writing a new record as she and her husband wait to adopt a child. ÿa gorgeous celebration of adult love" -Rollingstone Magazineÿ"Bonham's collection brings a sophisticated quirkiness to the femme alt-pop table unseen for quite some time" - Billboard Magazine.

EXPLORERS: New York-based Indie rock band Explorers builds on the foundation of exploring new sounds by spontaneous creation. Its band members bring a strikingly diverse musical background and an Explorers show contains a wide variety of genres. However, it is impossible to pinpoint exactly what the sound is like. Leave your ears to decide. The band members are Zach Tenorio (Keyboards, Vocals), Zach Page (Guitar, Vocals), Elijah Rawk (Bass, Drums, Vocals) and Ray Belli (Drums, Tabla). They met as performers in the Paul Green School of Rock All Stars, playing together for the first time with Yes singer Jon Anderson. The quartet reunited after a two-year hiatus when members got together on October 19th of last year, Tenorio's birthday, and decided to form Explorers. Each Explorers performance is dramatically different, but guarantees to be a sonic and visual spectacle and a show not to be missed.

Friday Night CONCERT: Simi Stone and Jeremy Bernstein in Concert

Woodstock's own, singer songwriter violinist Simi Stone will play the Colony on September 23. Simi's ever evolving multi dimensional talent constantly pushes her in new directions. Having just returned from a UK Tour with her band The Duke and the King, the band formed by Felice Brothers founder Simone Felice and Bobby "Bird" Burke, she is working on a solo record. She received critical acclaim for her violin playing and singing from the editor of Uncut Magazine Brian Jones as "the sensational Simi Stone whose striking voice adds an even more testifying flavor to the group sound" He likened her to Bob Dylan's violinist Scarlet Rivera. Jones praised her fiddle playing as "a thing of mournful beauty." Her song "No Easy Way Out" with the Duke and the King was a hit on BBC Radio and the Band appeared on Jools Holland Late Night and other UK television shows. Simi who toured and released records with her own band Suffrajett, electrifies audiences with lonely and soulful tunes and lifts us through the joy of connecting.

Doors open at 9pm. Show starts at 9:30. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
