This year’s recipient is TONY KAYE.

TONY KAYE's feature film debut was "American History X," a drama about racism starring Edward Norton and Edward Furlong. Norton was later nominated for the Academy Award® for Best Actor for his performance in the film. Kaye made the documentary "Lake of Fire" on the abortion debate in the United States, which opened in Toronto to astounding reviews in September 2006. "Lake of Fire" made the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences short-list for Best Documentary Film. It was also nominated for Best Documentary Film at the Independent Spirit Awards, Chicago Film Critic Association Awards, and the Satellite Awards.

Kaye is also a singer, songwriter and painter who has made several iconic music videos, including the video for "Runaway Train" by Soul Asylum, which won a Grammy Award; "Dani California" by Red Hot Chili Peppers; "What God Wants" by Roger Waters; and "Help Me" and "God's Gonna Cut You Down by" Johnny Cash. Kaye is a six time Grammy nominated music video director. He won a Grammy in 2006 for the famous Johnny Cash video "God's Gonna Cut You Down" with cameo appearances by Bono, Johnny Depp, Kanye West, Patti Smith, Terrence Howard, Iggy Pop, The Dixie Chicks, Brian Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Keith Richards, Chris Martin, Sharon Stone, Lisa Marie Presley, Flea, Chris Rock, Justin Timberlake, Kate Moss, Sir Peter Blake, Sheryl Crow, Dennis Hopper, Mick Jones, and Jay-Z. TRAILBLAZER AWARD:
The Trailblazer award, which recognizes an innovative leader and pioneer in the field industry will be presented to public advocacy for the arts pioneer ROBIN BRONK. Bronk has been a tireless fighter and committed believer in the power of creativity in the arts to effect social change. Bronk is Chief Executive Officer of The Creative Coalition—the leading national, nonprofit, nonpartisan social and public advocacy organization of the arts and entertainment industry. Bronk is dedicated to educating, mobilizing and activating the entertainment industry and arts community on issues of public importance, particularly the First Amendment, arts advocacy, arts in education, and media literacy.

“Somewhere in America today, there are individuals with the potential of Orson Welles and the artistic gifts of Mark Rothko. It is foolhardy to attempt to save our economy by ignoring our talent.” –Robin Bronk

EXCELLENCE IN ACTING AWARD
This year’s recipient of the Excellence in Acting Award is two-time Golden Globe Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winner ELLEN BARKIN a mesmerizing, sultry and passionate actress of stunning range who has worked with some of the greatest directors and actors of all time. Please join us in celebrating Ellen Barkin’s stellar career, from her unforgettable debut in “Diner” to her stunning performance in “Sea of Love,” to her recent Emmy Award Best Actress win for her performance in Oprah Winfrey’s “Before Women Had Wings.”

“There can be little doubt that Barkin is one of the most intense and passionately convincing actresses now at work in American movies.” –Roger Ebert

THE MEERA GANDHI GIVING BACK AWARD
This year the festival is proud to present the first ever honorary Meera Gandhi Giving Back Award to area resident and Academy Award® nominated actor MARK RUFFALO for his outstanding community activism involving safe water and hydro-fracking in the Catskills. Ruffalo is also part Farmhearts, a local organization devoted to helping family farms. Mark Ruffalo, besides being a wildly talented movie star, is a down-to-earth and humble activist.

“In all honesty, I do not see myself as an activist as much as a citizen that feels a responsibility to the greater good and the wellbeing of future generations. Luckily I am not alone. I am one of hundreds of thousands of other citizens that feel the same. Our water is our future and we aim to protect it from corporate greed and selfishness. --Mark Ruffalo”

This year the Awards Ceremony has a special musical treat in store for you. The legendary Paul Green, creator of School of Rock, inspiration for Jack Black’s character in the film “School of Rock,” will be in the house! Paul Green’s Band of Monkeys will be thrilling you with, as he puts it, “the music from some of the greatest movies ever made…. And some mediocre ones too.” Prepare to be tickled, surprised, and elated by the hilarious entity that is Paul Green.
