A moving exploration of the individual experiences of nine women as told through nine single unbroken takes. Rodrigo Garcia interweaves a grand tapestry of universal resonance that hinges on performances from an incredible ensemble. By depicting nine different characters at emotional crossroads, NINE LIVES examines how we so often find ourselves captive in relationships, both past and present.Featuring Holly Hunter, Sissy Spacek, Elpida Carrillo, Robin Wright Penn, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Amanda Seyfreid, Amy Brenneman, Kathy Baker, Glenn Close, and Dakota Fanning. "Like ghosts dragging their chains, characters appear and reappear in these powerful and haunting vignettes, each observed at a critical moment in time. A brilliant cast skillfully propels each story to surprising and unexpected conclusions. Beautifully crafted and scored, this is a meditation on the deepest and most vulnerable parts of our souls. (Barbara Pokras, A.C.E.) |
Rodrigo Garcia was born in Cuba in 1959. He was the son of Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez. He has directed numerous series episodes for HBO, including THE SOPRANOS, SIX FEET UNDER, and CARNIVALE. |
