In Ulster County, Saugerties is nestled in the Hudson Valley, bordering the Hudson River to the east and offering views of the Catskill Mountains to the west. The quaint town offers a blend of history, cultural events, and arts and has a historic business district with great shops and boutiques.
Saugerties hosted the Woodstock ‘94 music festival, held on the 25th anniversary of the original festival. One of the town’s biggest yearly attractions is the HITS ‘Horseshows In the Sun’ horseback-riding competition. It occupies 200 acres of land and has a 10 ring, Olympic-status show facility in central Saugerties.
Built in 1890, The Orpheum Theater is a charming period theater that was originally a vaudeville house and sporting venue for the mid Hudson Valley. In its heyday, The Orpheum had legendary names such as Lucille Ball, and Burns and Allen grace its stage.
Just 16 miles from Woodstock, Saugerties location enables visitors to easily visit both areas during a short stay. Click here for LODGING & DINING info.
