The Woodstock Film Festival will present THE DRY LAND on July 10, 8:00pm at The Rosendale Theater in Rosendale NY. America Ferrera (Ugly Betty) who executive produced and stars in the film will be in attendance to participate in a Q&A following the screening along with director Ryan Piers Williams, Academy Award® nominated actor Melissa Leo (Frozen River) and emerging star Ryan O'Nan . Also in attendance will be film editor, Sabine Hoffman (The Private Lives of Pippa Lee) and Academy Award® nominated producer Heather Rae (Frozen River). The Dry Land also features WFF alumni Jason Ritter (The Perfect Age of Rock 'n' Roll) and Wilmer Valderrama.

Synopsis:
James (Ryan O’Nan) returns from Iraq to face a new battle—reintegrating into his small-town life in Texas. His wife (America Ferrera), his mother (Melissa Leo), and his friend (Jason Ritter) provide support, but they can’t fully understand the pain and suffering he feels since his tour of duty ended. Lonely, James reconnects with an army buddy (Wilmer Valderrama), who provides him with compassion and camaraderie during his battle to process his experiences in Iraq. But their reunion also exposes the different ways that war affects people—at least on the surface.

This moving, taut story of redemption and reconstruction extends beyond a post-traumatic-stress-disorder narrative. O’Nan is heartbreaking as he explores the depths of his internal struggle; Ferrera fearlessly tackles her role of a young wife in turmoil. The Dry Land is about one man’s fight within his own terrain—his country, home, and mind—and his journey to rebuild what he’s lost. (Synopsis courtesy of The Sundance Film Festival)

Director's Bio:
Ryan Piers Williams, a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. Williams has written and directed more than 10 short films. In 2004, he was awarded a grant from the Austin Film Society’s Texas Filmmakers’ Production Fund and one from Panavision’s New Filmmaker Program; both grants were used to make his short film, Muertas, which went on to screen at more than 14 film festivals. The Dry Land is Williams’s first feature.
