2001 OPENING NIGHT GALA

True to the musical tradition that is Woodstock, Marshall Crenshaw (below) Kate Pierson, Gail Ann Dorsey, Sara Lee (right) and the Uncle Funk All Stars will get you rockiní Woodstock style.

Marshall Crenshaw released his debut album in 1982, which featured "Someday, Someway." Critical acclaim followed with Field Day, Downtown, Mary Jean & 9 Others and Miracle of Science. Crenshaw has also acted in films including Peggy Sue Got Married, Nickelodeonís Pete & Pete and La Bamba. In addition, heís written a book on music in the movies, called Hollywood Rock.

Kate Pierson is a founding member of the B-52ís.

Sara Lee has been called a musicianís bassist. She started out in the British alternative music scene and was a founding member of Robert Frippís The League of Gentlemen. She later joined the Gang of Four, the B-52ís, the Indigo Girls and Ani DiFrancoís band.

Gail Ann Dorsey is a top session bassist and vocalist with an eclectic and impressive career. An international solo recording artist with several albums, she has toured with David Bowie, the Gang of Four, Bryan Ferry and the Indigo Girls.

 

Uncle Funk All-Stars

Joe Beesmer, a mainstay on the Woodstock music scene, is the lead singer of the Uncle Funk All-Stars.

Jerry Marotta has played drums for Peter Gabriel, Tony Levin, Los Lobos, Paul McCartney, Sarah Mc Lachlan, Robbie Robertson, Jewel, Cher, T-Bone Burnett, The Indigo Girls, Marshall Crenshaw, 10,000 Maniacs and many others.

Jesse Gress is music editor of Guitar Player, the leading magazine for aspiring and professional guitarists of all styles and levels. A respected performer and music educator, Jesse tours and records with Todd Rundgren and the Tony Levin Band and has over a hundred transcription folios to his credit.

Howie Brown has played horns with such notables as The Drifters, Livingston Taylor, Levon Helm, Tony Levin, Tico Torres of Bon Jovi, John Hall and many others. He owns and operates the Frozen Tundra Recording Studio in Bearsville.


The "Taste of Woodstock" at the opening night gala is provided by several of the areaís finest eating establishments and caterers including Blue Mountain Bistro, Oliver Kita Fine Catering, Terrapin Restaurant and Wok ní Roll Chinese.

Champagne has been graciously provided of Hurley Ridge Wine & Liquor, wine by Garry Tornberg of W.J. Deutsch & Sons, Ltd., beer by Woodstock Brewery, and coffee courtesy of Catskill Mountain Organic Coffee.
